"BLAU" is the quartet led by Swiss pianist and composer Mik Keusen. In 2005, he successfully debuted with his eponymous album "Mik Keusen - BLAU," which was released on the Tonus Music Records label in 2005..

On his new album "Nalu," Mik Keusen remains true to his proven conceptual components of repetition, minimalism, and ambient. In addition to influences from jazz and contemporary classical music, he pleasantly surprises with elements from progressive pop music. While the pieces do not adhere to traditional song structures, some of the refreshingly idiosyncratic melodies have an almost catchy quality.

"The CD title 'Nalu' comes from the Hawaiian language and means wave, surfing, and meditation. The feeling of riding a wave encompasses much of what I want to express in my music."

Keusen not only impresses as a pianist and composer but also excels in leading the band as a harmonious unit. The newly added Swedish percussionist, Fredrik Gille, captivates with a broad spectrum of sounds, skillfully balancing between earthy beats and intricate rhythms, while the double bassist and singer Anna Trauffer fascinates with her unique combination of bass playing and vocals. The Ronin clarinetist and saxophonist, Sha, adeptly navigates the expansive sonic landscapes, shining with soloistic virtuosity. However, the primary focus remains on the development of a homogeneous, lyrically intertwined organism, nurtured equally by all members.
